We've been waiting for this announcement: MarketingVOX reports today that AOL has teamed with Feedster to provide RSS feeds to its new MyAOL personalized home pages.
Excerpt from the MarketingVOX post:
My AOL features currently include a "My Feeds" section that retrieves updated headlines from websites and offers a pre-set list of categories and the ability to add other feed-based content; RSS feeds can be found by entering RSS/XML addresses or URLs for websites, with My AOL automatically scanning those sites for available feeds.Features that will be added in the future include the capability to search the web for additional RSS feeds and a "Top Feeds" section that will display Top News and Hot Blogs. The initial beta of the new My AOL is available from a My AOL tab on AOL.com.
What does this mean for you as an event organizer? If you have an RSS feed from your site (or blog) and you have a considerable number of AOL email addresses in your opt-in database, you should contact those people to let them know they can now receive and see your feeds right on their homepage. Include instructions on how to do so.
Yahoo! and MSN already have customizable RSS features on their personalized home pages. If you haven't done so already, you may also wish to contact your @yahoo.com and @hotmail.com addresses about your feeds.
It also wouldn't hurt to put the corresponding subscribe buttons for each service alongside any existing RSS feed buttons you may have on your site. (Although I haven't found AOL's button just yet.)
