The "old" Conferon has been in publishing for years, producing an annual guide for meeting planners. Their guide has been a pretty comprehensive intro to the field for beginning planners and was, in fact, better in many ways than some of the info published by meeting associations.
Now the "new" Conferon - Conferon Global Services, which includes the post-merge ITS/ExpoExchange - has announced it will publish a magazine called "Event ROI" starting this fall.
We ask: Will Event ROI be a magazine with fully independent editorial? Or will it be a thinly-veiled corporate brochure touting the Conferon/ITS/ExpoExchange offerings?
I hope, with Michael Bandy at the helm, it will be the former. But I'm not a fan of George P. Johnson's newsletters, which I often find to be on the arrogant (egocentric?) side. And the GPJ audience appears to be the same market that Event ROI will be after.
I also hope beyond hope that we don't see much in the way of laudatory articles on either ExpoExchange or ITS, both of which - in my opinion - have competitors that are more affordable, more nimble and better technically. As a former prospective customer of both I was never a fan of either.
Still wish Conferon had bought ARI or AR Systems and Passkey. Then they (and we) would have something pretty darned useful, flexible and affordable.
