Can Blogs Influence Show Management Decisions?
B.L. Ochman is about to find out.
Ms. Ochman is p.o.'d at the organizers of the Public Relations Society of America's annual conference for not having a track on blogs at their upcoming event - which is next week. And her annoyance, expressed through posts on her blog, is spreading via other marketing bloggers.
You and I know that trying to organize something like this on short notice is a royal pain. But if the PRSA does do something, can they count on Ms. Ochman and her blogging supports to promote the living daylights out of it so people will actually show up? Ms. Ochman has volunteered the content and speakers - but it would be equally important to the PRSA if Ochman, et.al. ensured attendance at this track.
This should be interesting and we'll know the outcome by this time next week.
UPDATE: 10/15: No guarantees, but PRSA is listening. And they have a cancellation, so there's a spot. B.L. says she can deliver the content AND the attendees. Let's see what happens on Monday.
Moral: Pay attention to what bloggers are saying about you. Engage in the conversation. Otherwise things may spin out of control.
