France Telecom Wants Your Body
We've known about interactive apparel for awhile. Internet World even did a runway fashion show back in 1999.
But, now France Telecom says professional event marketers would benefit from the technology.
The mind boggles.
On the plus side, you could have booth reps indicating red for busy, green for available, or an icy blue for "I'm available, but I'm a coldhearted salesperson." Or yellow for "Danger Will Robinson, competitor in booth!"
Exhibitors could stop shipping and renting LCDs and just demo on staff t-shirts. Of course, ironing those shirts would be helpful.
Planners could hire armies of floor walkers with screens of where all the next sessions are and when they're starting. You might even choose to have some walk around with a live keynote presentation.
And what about those "Ask Me" people? They could be walking around with "You are here" maps glowing from their breasts.
Just don't touch.
Thanks to PSFK for the link.

Speaking as someone from the female persuasion, I already don't like having people stare at my chest to see my badge--can you even imagine having people watching stuff on your shirt for minutes at a time, even when you know the shirt's the real attraction? High eew factor for a lot of women, I'd guess.
Interesting novelty factor, but I doubt it'll catch on. Then again, that's what I thought about multiple ear piercing way back when...
